AFFICHE

A series of posters advertising Gerard & Kelly’s film Bright Hours (2023), Affiche applies a modernist strategy to industrial screen printing. The artists pause the printing process by separating the red, green/yellow, and blue layers of a single image to make a triptych, expanding a frozen image into a choreographic sequence. The size of each part matches the standard for posters announcing new film releases in the Paris metro. Affiche evokes the cinema as an engine of change for how bodies are represented.
