BARDO
The first major exhibition in Paris devoted to the work of Gerard & Kelly presents new bodies of work that together reveal the hybridity and multidisciplinarity of the duo’s practice, rooted in an ongoing investigation of history, architecture, and sexuality. Bardo at Marian Goodman Gallery unfolds as a time-based, multi-sensory experience. Its title, drawn from Tibetan Buddhism, refers to the transitional state between death and rebirth, a passage in which consciousness undergoes profound transformation. Through evocations of saintly figures—openly or symbolically queer—Gerard & Kelly create a space for reflection and resonance between past and present, shadow and light, the profane and the sacred.
